With 2629 square feet, a spectacular hilltop location on 4+ acres and a gourmet kitchen, this custom house was designed from the ground up to bring family and friends together in a beautiful location, while still providing enough space to allow individuals their own pursuits.
The kitchen provides a great space for everyone to come together. The design of the kitchen serves both a gourmet chef and family-style meal preparation. The large granite kitchen island allows the whole family to work together for food preparation and meals. Whether cooking for family or friends, the gourmet cook will love the the Viking 48″ cooktop with 6 burners and a flat-top griddle. Oversized double ovens (one being convection) offer the opportunity to cook different dishes at the same time at different temperatures. The large, built-in fridge and an oversized pantry help make sure that chefs always have their choice ingredients at hand. A separate hall pantry allows for out-of-sight storage of various cooking implements such as food processor, stand mixer and larger cookware. The pull-out drawer shelves in the kitchen make easy access and for storing pots, pans and bowls. Two dishwashers make clean up a snap. The open kitchen design allows for friends and family to visit during meal preparation times. Our design of the house began with the kitchen and then moved outward to the rest of the house.
The floor plan of the house provides two living areas with ample sound separation. The large family room provides a great space for both socializing and movie night. The room has built-in 7 channel surround sound speakers for a home theater and a cozy woodburning fireplace for quiet nights. The home also has a smaller family room off the kitchen that is pre-wired for surround sound and satellite TV. This is a great place for kids to play video games or watch their own movies and TV shows. A hallway and several interior walls separate the two areas so the audio doesn’t conflict. The entire house is pre-wired with satellite/cable/internet in all main rooms. With four bedrooms and three baths, there is plenty of private space for everyone.
Two extensive covered porch areas provide views of the scenic surrounding countryside. The West porch offers spectacular sunset views of the Santa Rita and Santa Catalina Mountains. The position of the North porch provides stunning views of the Whetstone, Mustang, Empire, and Santa Rita Mountains. From the large Northwest end of the porch (where we keep a table and chairs for outdoor meals), one can see both the spectacular sunrises and sunsets for which Arizona is known. During the summer monsoon season, this is a great spot from which to enjoy the frequent rainbows that often appear in the form of double full bows. From the front entry way, dramatic views of the Huachuca Mountains and the Canelo Hills can be seen.
These were some of the most important features that we took into consideration when designing the house. But we didn’t stop there. We tried to include many little details to make the house more functional and practical. You’ll find many of these details highlighted throughout this website.
